HeForShe Roundtable - International Women's day

HeForShe ROUND TABLE

On March 8, 2024, for International Women’s Day, CCI FRANCE CHINE proudly hosted its annual HeForShe Roundtable, a dynamic event aimed at fostering dialogue on gender equality. Unfolding simultaneously in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and live streamed online on multiple platforms, the event captivated an impressive audience of 45,000 people. This global resonance exemplifies the urgency and universal appeal of the mission to promote gender equality.

Created by UN Women, the HeForShe movement, extends beyond a mere slogan, unites individuals of all genders in the fight against inequalities and stereotypes.

Moderated by our General Manager Caroline PENARD, the roundtable featured a distinguished panel of speakers, including the President of the French Region Occitanie Carole Delga, and several prominent French business leaders in China such as Christophe Lauras of Accor, Christine Miles of DHH LAW FIRM (德和衡律师事务所), Adeline Franger Chouraqui of CMA CGM, Frederic Barbier of SGD Pharma, Cecile Naour (she / her / hers) of Cartier, Remi Paul of Safran, Sophie PHE of Rémy Cointreau, Laure Le Maréchal of GAC-Sofinco, and Nicolas Morineaux of Galeries Lafayette,

The French Ambassador to China, Bertrand Lortholary delivered an opening speech, setting the tone for an engaging and insightful discussion. The roundtable delved into the significance of gender equality in each speaker's respective field. A well-organized flow allowed for a seamless exchange of ideas among the ten speakers, covering diverse perspectives from different industries and institutions.

Key topics included best practices sharing, insightful personal experience and recommendations, political representation for women, obstacles to diversity, industry-specific challenges, how to encourage women in male-dominated industries and pursuing careers in STEM fields, and the role (and responsibility) of leaders in promoting gender equality.

At CCI FRANCE CHINE, we take great pride in making sure that gender equality is not relegated to only being a feminine concern and that discussions and actions towards it do not start and end on March 8.

We hope this panel will inspire everyone to strive towards more inclusivity in the upcoming year!
