Event Introduction
In April 2026, China enacted two new regulations: Decree No. 834 on Industrial and Supply Chain Security and Decree No. 835. These rules establish new legal requirements for companies operating in China.
For multinational sourcing operations, certain actions – such as terminating a supplier relationship, conducting supply chain audits, or complying with foreign regulations or due diligence requests – may now be subject to review under Chinese law. The regulations introduce potential consequences including investigations, restrictions on trade or data transfers, and in some cases, personal liability for in-country representatives.
