On June 3, 2026, the Consulate General of France in Guangzhou and CCI FRANCE CHINE co-hosted a joint R&D Committee session at Kingfa Sci. & Tech. Co., Ltd. Headquarters in Guangzhou Science City, Huangpu District. The event focused on waste management, recycling, and new materials.

The session began with opening remarks from Mr. Legodec, Consul General of France in Guangzhou, who insisted on the importance of environmental preservation and technological collaboration between France and China. He was followed by Mr. Li Nanjing, Co-founder of Kingfa, who shared his perspectives on innovation and sustainable development.

Participants then enjoyed a headquarters and laboratory visit, offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Kingfa's facilities. The afternoon continued with presentations and a roundtable discussion featuring:

  • Kingfa on advanced recycling technologies and new materials: Kingfa is a global leader in advanced materials and sustainable solutions, with capabilities in both mechanical and chemical recycling to transform plastic waste into high-quality raw materials. The company recently inaugurated an advanced recycling facility in Montalbo, Spain, with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons of high-performance recycled plastics, supporting the circular economy and EU sustainability targets .
  • SGD Pharma on circular economy, PCR glass, and the Mangrove Together project: SGD Pharma, a French global leader in glass primary packaging, has successfully produced glass bottles containing 20% post-consumer recycled (PCR) glass cullet at its Zhanjiang plant in China. This initiative decreases virgin material use and lowers carbon emissions while maintaining aesthetic quality and safety. The company also received ISO 14021 certification from Bureau Veritas for its PCR glass packaging, a first in China's glass industry .
  • SNF on water treatment solutions: SNF is the world's leading manufacturer of water-soluble polymers, with over 1,000 products used in municipal and industrial water treatment, sludge dewatering, and drinking water production. The company has committed to achieving carbon neutrality (Scope 1 & 2) by 2050, reducing carbon intensity by 30%, and reducing water intensity by 20% by 2030 .

The key takeaway: this R&D Committee session offered participants a valuable opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions with industry peers, exchange insights, and explore practical strategies applicable within their organizations. The collaborative format fostered a better understanding of current challenges while encouraging the development of innovative and forward-looking solutions.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Kingfa Sci. & Tech. for hosting, to Mr. Legodec and Mr. Li Nanjing for their inspiring opening remarks, and to all speakers and attendees for their contributions.
