Why is ESG essential in retail ecosystem? : A cross discussion between Hong Kong and French companies in China

On June 19th 2025, CCI FRANCE CHINE, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Guangdong, hosted a cross-regional conference titled “Why is ESG Essential in the Retail Ecosystem?”. This gathering brought together retail leaders from Hong Kong and the French business communities for a comprehensive discussion on the strategic importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles within the retail sector.On June 19th 2025, CCI FRANCE CHINE, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Guangdong, hosted a cross-regional conference titled “Why is ESG Essential in the Retail Ecosystem?”. This gathering brought together retail leaders from Hong Kong and the French business communities for a comprehensive discussion on the strategic importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles within the retail sector.

 

Importantly, the panel offered practical advice for small and medium-sized enterprises on how to start or strengthen their ESG initiatives, including specific action steps and solutions to common challenges. The event also highlighted the growing importance of cross-border cooperation in promoting sustainable retail practices, offering an inspiring platform for knowledge exchange throughout the Greater Bay Area.

Thanks to all the speakers, the conference was the result of extraordinary collaboration produced by Jeffrey Ng, Network Growth Executive and GCR Representative from EcoVadis; May Lv, Senior Associate Director at Savills; Vivy Liang, General Manager at SERAM; Jason Lau, Deputy General Manager of Sustainability at New World China, along with Kin Fung Wong, Co-Founder of Kraemer, who also moderated the discussion.
