Economic Situation Update with the Minister Counselor

On March 26, 2026, CCI FRANCE CHINE, in collaboration with the French Embassy in China, hosted an Economic Situation Update. This hybrid event held in person at the Beijing office, broadcast live with a networking cocktail in Shanghai and Canton, and accessible via webinar brought together a broad audience of professionals.
Led by Mr. Christian Gianella, Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs, the session provided a strategic platform to analyze the positioning of France and Europe amidst major global economic shifts. Through this conference, CCI FRANCE CHINE continues its essential mission of decoding strategic issues to better support the business community in a rapidly evolving economic environment.
The session focused on three key takeaways:
- Balance and Reciprocity: Adapting Europe's approach to defend its economic interests and striving for a rebalancing of trade relations to ensure greater market openness and better investment access.
- Foreign Trade and Competitiveness: Promoting the "Made in Europe" initiative, securing value chains, and consolidating economic sovereignty by actively supporting French foreign trade.
- Attractiveness and Cooperation: Navigating global trends through de-risking without economic decoupling, while reaffirming France's attractiveness to Chinese investors and seizing new opportunities for cooperation across various sectors.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the French Embassy in China, Mr. Christian Gianella for his clear and insightful analysis, and all the attendees whether present across our three branches or connected online for their active participation and engaging questions.
