On September 3, 2026, CCI FRANCE CHINE hosted a new session of its Agri-Food Club, dedicated to the Agricultural Dimension of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan.

The session provided participants with an overview of the major priorities shaping the future of Chinese agriculture and their implications for the sector. It highlighted China’s strategy to strengthen food security and agricultural self-sufficiency while accelerating technological innovation, modernizing production, and revitalizing rural areas.

The event focused on:

  • Innovation & Technology: Exploring China’s growing investment in agricultural R&D, digital agriculture, AI, robotics and genetics, and their role in increasing productivity and modernizing the sector.
  • Modern Agriculture & Rural Revitalization: Looking at policies supporting rural development, higher-value and higher-quality agriculture, geographical indications, professional training and the development of local industries.
  • Food Security & Self-Sufficiency: Examining China’s objectives to strengthen domestic production and reduce its dependence on imports, as well as the environmental, sanitary and climate-related challenges affecting these ambitions.
  • Implications for French Agri-Food Sectors: Discussing the challenges and opportunities created by these developments for French companies, from increasing export competition and geopolitical risks to new possibilities for cooperation in research, education, green agriculture and agroecology.

We would like to warmly thank our speaker for sharing her expertise and providing valuable insights into the transformations underway in Chinese agriculture and what they could mean for French agri-food players.
