For many years and until recently, French companies have tried to increase their presence in China and improve their integration in the local market. However, the recent Chinese economic growth slowdown has appeared to be a new challenge in this complex country.
The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China together with Ifop Asia research agency have taken the initiative since 2012 to conduct an annual survey among the CCIFC member companies. The first wave was realized during the summer of 2012 and after the success of this survey, the CCIFC decided to maintain the collaboration and conduct this survey annually The latest edition (2015) was presented in Beijing in March during our General Assembly.
The results of this survey are meant to provide insight into French business confidence in the Chinese market and understand their main challenges and concerns, and interesting feedbacks on how French companies view the business environment in China.
The quantitative survey consists of an online questionnaire sent to around 1,000 eligible respondents who hold direction position in their respective company (Ex. managing director, general manager, operations director, area manager, HR manager, secretary-general, etc.)
Most of them are from tier 1 & 2 cities mostly from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, etc. In 2015, the response rate reached 12%. The survey was covering targeted topics such as the company strategy in China, the business environment and the anticipation of future developments.
