Want to know what does look like a nuclear plant?
The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China is pleased to invite you to join the exclusively-CCIFC members-open-visit of the EDF Taishan nuclear plant, to be held on Tuesday, March 24th 2015 from 8.00a.m. to 7.00p.m.
EDF in China & Taishan:
The EDF Group has been operating in China for almost 30 years in nuclear, coal-fired and hydropower technologies. Today, EDF is the largest foreign investor in the Chinese electricity sector.
The Group has stakes in companies operating coal-fired power plants with a total installed capacity of 4,920 MW, in the province of Guangxi (Laibin B), in the province of Shandong (Shandong Zhonghua Power Company) and in the province of Henan (Datang Sanmenxia Power Generation Company).
In addition, EDF has supplied consulting services in 80% of China’s major hydroelectric projects: project management assistance, design, production control, valley management optimization, etc.
Within nuclear activities, in 1984 EDF took on technical responsibility for the overall design, the supervision of manufacturing, and the project management for construction and operation of the Daya Bay nuclear power plant (2 x 1,000 MW). Then EDF assisted the owner, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Co., Ltd. (CGNPC), for the construction of Ling Ao Phase 1 (2 x 1,000 MW commissioned in 2002 and 2003) and Phase 2 (2 x 1,000 MW commissioned in 2010 and 2011).
Following an announcement in October 2006, EDF and CGNPC strengthened their industrial partnership by signing in Beijing on August 10th 2008 the final agreements to create a joint-venture named “Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company Ltd” (TNPJVC).
The aim of the joint-venture is to construct and operate two EPR technology nuclear power plants in Taishan (2 x 1,750 MW), Guangdong, based on the EPR reactor currently under construction by EDF in Flamanville, France. EDF holds a 30% share in TNPJVC for 50 years, the maximum period authorized for a joint-venture in China."
