Though new elected French presidents used to celebrate to the sound of La Marseillaise, the French national anthem, Mr Macron, appeared at a victory rally to the sound of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”, the European Union’s official anthem. Beyond the strong symbolic significance of this choice, the election of Mr Macron, a liberal centrist committed to a less austerity-driven Eurozone and refusing to re-impose internal borders with EU partners, is an event of continent-wide importance. It was also a rebuff to those who believed the Brexit vote in the UK and the Trump election in the US would have a domino effect.
The presentation will deal with the French-German will to re-instill ambition in the European project. Indeed, as Mr Macron explained: “the euro is incomplete and cannot not last without major reforms”... In this new European context and regarding the EU-China relationships, it should be noticed that Germany and France are already backing moves towards making EU policies somewhat more restrictive: Brussels being looking now into protecting investments in strategic sectors at an EU level …

PhD in macroeconomics and international Finance, University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (UNSA) - HEC Executive MBA.
His research focuses on the far reaching interactions between geopolitics and global capital markets.
Prior to being a full-time professor, he was vice-president of Rabobank Paris Branch and had more than 15 years banking experience.
