Economic & Legal Conferences [Business Forum]

May 15, 2014

The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China is pleased to invite you to join the two following economic and legal conferences on Thursday, May 15th 2014 at Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich from 3.30p.m. to 5.30p.m.

1st conference: GEENEN LAW OFFICE

"Litigation and Arbitration in China"

Similar to domestic trade, disputes are inevitable in international trade. There are a number of alternative ways to settle a dispute in international transactions, including conciliation, mediation, arbitration and litigation.

Companies doing international business in China have long been reticent about getting involved with Chinese courts, and accordingly the usual practice has been to draft detailed arbitration clauses in their contracts. Yet, to choose arbitration over litigation should not be considered as a fixed model – there are some circumstances where companies may have advantages to use the Chinese court system as opposed to arbitration. Roland Huang from Geenen Law Office will explore the differences between these two forms of dispute resolution and highlights the times where litigation may be preferred.

Mr. Roland Huang

Mr. Roland Huang has been involved in legal consulting and dispute resolution practice on international trade, investment and cooperation for more than 12 years. He is one of the partners of Geenen Law Office in Guangzhou, in charge of the law firm’s international legal affair department. He is also a member of International Law Practice Committee of Guangdong Lawyers Association. Mr. Huang and his group use skillfully Chinese, English and French as working languages.
