The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) established between ASEAN and China has reduced import and export tariffs to essentially zero on 90 percent of all goods traded between these countries. With the recent slowdown in China, ASEAN is fast becoming a vital alternative for both diversification from the Middle Kingdom and new ventures in Asia with access to these FTAs playing a crucial role.
During this breakfast talk, Mr. Fabian Knopf will discuss what these regional trade pacts mean for foreign companies in China, particularly in relation to their production, sourcing, R&D, logistics, and sales. Cost comparisons and business models across the region under existing and pending FTAs will be briefly discussed including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), Transpacific Partnership (TPP) and the China-EU Investment Agreement.
Mr. Fabian Knopf, Senior Associate and Head of German Desk at Dezan Shira & Associates, joined Dezan Shira & Associates in early 2010 in the Beijing office and has just returned to this office in October after working in the firm’s offices in Shanghai, Suzhou, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hanoi.
